Challenge

The Scene - Craft Kitchen & Bar is an outdoor continental restaurant nestled in the heart of JP Nagar, Bangalore. The restaurant’s concept is to provide a relaxed, casual atmosphere where guests can enjoy great food and drinks, surrounded by nature. The challenge for this project was to capture this essence through a comprehensive visual identity and design that reflected the restaurant's values and unique positioning.



Outcome

The project resulted in a visually cohesive and impactful brand identity that effectively communicated The Scene's unique concept to its target audience. Consistent branding across all touchpoints, from the logo to the dine-in and takeaway experience, established a strong connection between the restaurant and its guests. This consistency not only enhanced the overall dining experience but also significantly boosted the restaurant’s visibility and appeal in the market, leading to increased customer engagement and positive word-of-mouth.



My Role & Team Collaboration

As a member of the design team, I was responsible for developing a cohesive visual identity and designing key touchpoints that enriched the dining experience. Close collaboration with the operations team, architect, social media team, and site manager ensured the successful crafting and implementation of a comprehensive branding strategy. My work included creating a distinct logo, curating a colour and material palette aligned with the restaurant’s concept, and designing the on-site dining environment. The branding extended to takeaway packaging and digital assets, ensuring a unified and consistent brand presence from the restaurant to the customers' homes.

One key lesson learned from this project was the importance of developing brand guidelines to ensure consistent application of the visual identity across all touchpoints.

Concept and Design Approach

The idea was to create a seamless blend of urban life and nature, where guests can enjoy a serene dining experience under a canopy of trees. This involved a multifaceted design approach, ensuring that every element—from the colour palette and typography to imagery—worked together to tell the restaurant’s story.



Logo and Submarks

The logo, featuring a canopy of trees, visually encapsulates The Scene’s connection to nature and its outdoor dining concept. Submarks were developed to provide flexibility, allowing the brand to adapt seamlessly across different media, from social media profiles to signage and packaging, while maintaining a consistent visual identity.



Typography and Colour

Typography and colour played vital roles in balancing modernity with warmth for The Scene’s brand. Overpass and TT Norms variants deliver a bold, contemporary look, while Avenir and Brandon Grotesque ensure legibility and a clean, modern feel. Vrache Caps and Carola add sophistication to supporting elements. The colour palette, featuring Highland Green, Deep Emerald, and warm tones like Peach and Pumpkin Pie, reflects the restaurant’s natural ambience. Neutral shades like Bermuda Grey and Slate Grey provide versatile backgrounds that enhance readability and visual harmony.



Brand Experience and Guidelines

The Scene’s branding extended into creating a cohesive environment where every detail—from the aprons and uniforms to the table settings like placemats and coasters—reinforced the brand's identity. For takeaways, the packaging was crafted to mirror the in-house ambience, using the same design language. To ensure consistency, a comprehensive brand book was developed, covering all aspects of the visual identity and serving as a blueprint for maintaining uniformity across digital, print, and physical spaces.
